Then and Now

Then: Old Town Editions was founded by Chris Foley, an artist with 25 years experience in print production and Mark McCormick-Goodhart, a photographic scientist formerly at the Smithsonian Institution from 1988 to 1998 who is also an avid photographer. Their goal was simple: to make the best possible Iris (or “giclée”) prints for themselves.

Chris and Mark had tried other giclee producers and were less than satisfied with the results, particularly in the areas of color management, repeatability, and longevity. For the better part of a year they worked on color calibration, laboriously measuring target prints for colorimetric values on many different substrates. Chris and Mark utilized every technological advance available in hardware and software and evaluated the results based on the aesthetic principles that had motivated their quest for a finer print in the first place. They rapidly found themselves printing for other artists and photographers who demanded the highest quality. Without exception they loved the results. Rachel Baron and Patrick McMahon worked alongside Chris Foley for many years and took over ownership of Old Town Editions in 2014. In 2019, Patrick decided to pursue a new career path, leaving Rachel Baron as majority owner.

Now: Rachel Baron, Jordyn Raia, Megan Cook, Cindy Ayala and other new additions to the team have been providing clients with this same high level of service as the original founders. Having taken over the reigns from the original owners, owner Rachel Baron has dedicated herself to carrying on Chris and Mark’s legacy of excellence in fine art digital printmaking.
